Questions
Frequently asked questions
Do you take insurance?
I'm in network with UnitedHealthcare, Optum, Oxford, UMR. I provide superbills so you can seek reimbursement from out-of-network plans. Call your plan and ask about "outpatient mental health, out-of-network" to learn your reimbursement rate.
What does a session cost?
Fees depend on your insurance and the type of session. Sliding scale available. Ask me about current rates when we first talk.
Do you offer online therapy?
Yes. I see clients by secure video as long as they are located in New York State during the session, and in person at my office at 353 Lexington Ave in Midtown Manhattan.
What is psychodynamic therapy, and how is it different from CBT?
Psychodynamic therapy looks at the patterns, feelings and unconscious motives underneath your symptoms, and how they show up in your relationships, including the one with your therapist. CBT focuses more directly on changing specific thoughts and behaviors. Psychodynamic work tends to be open-ended and aims for lasting change in how you relate to yourself and others.
How long does therapy take?
It varies. Some people come for a few months to work through a specific problem. Others stay longer because they want deeper change. We will talk about your goals early on and revisit them as we go.
What is Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy?
EFT is an evidence-based, attachment-focused approach. It helps partners recognize the negative cycle they get stuck in, understand the needs and fears driving it, and build a more secure connection.
